Mine safety and production monitoring on the cameras you already have
Mine Monitor turns the CCTV cameras, gate hardware and vehicle trackers already on your site into a continuous watch over safety and production. Instead of an operator scanning a wall of screens, it raises only the events you have decided matter — a person in a barricaded area, a light vehicle too close to a loader, PPE missing at the plant gate — and sends each to whoever can act.
Footage reviewed afterwards is a record, not a defence
A medium-scale mine can have dozens of cameras feeding two or three screens in a room that is also handling radio traffic, gate calls and shift changes. Nobody watches all of it, so the recording is opened only once something has gone wrong. Mine Monitor watches every camera and interrupts a person only when a rule has been broken.
Safety rules the system can genuinely see
Computer vision — software that reads a video frame the way a trained observer would — is configured against the standards already in your safety file, not a generic template. Rules typically cover PPE checks at plant and shaft entrances, entry into a barricaded area, and a light vehicle crossing the exclusion zone around a loader. Each rule has its own escalation: a PPE reminder goes to the shift supervisor, a person in a blast area reaches the mine captain at once.
Where people and equipment are, not where the board says they are
Bluetooth Low Energy tags — small battery-powered tags clipped to a lamp, a helmet or a machine — report to readers at portals, workshops, stores and plant, while vehicles carry GPS trackers. Together they give a live muster: who is underground, who is on surface, which contractor signed in and has not been seen since. In an evacuation the roll call comes from tag data, not the register at the gate.
Production counted the same way every shift
The cameras watching for safety also count what passes them: tip movements, loader cycles, weighbridge arrivals and queue time at the crusher, each logged with a timestamp and a still image. Stoppages are recorded when they begin, not when somebody remembers, and the supervisor is prompted on WhatsApp for a reason while it is fresh.
Built for conditions on an African site
Detection runs on a small industrial computer in the plant or control room, not a data centre on another continent, so alerts fire whether or not the fibre link is up and events synchronise later. The units are specified for dust and heat and share your recorder's UPS or generator supply, so load shedding does not create a blind hour. Cameras left dirty, misaligned or dark are reported as faults.

Restricted areas, exclusion zones and PPE checkpoints are drawn once on the camera view, then enforced on every shift without anyone remembering to look.
Live muster and roll call
Tags and gate readers show who is on site and broadly where, so evacuation and contractor accountability no longer rest on a signature in a book.
Automatic stoppage log
Downtime is timestamped by the system and the reason collected over WhatsApp, so delay analysis is not written up from memory at month end.
Fuel and asset movement
Bowser draws, generator runtime and equipment leaving the yard are logged against a vehicle, a time and a person, making the fuel book a cross-check.
Incident evidence pack
Each alert is kept with the footage either side of it, the camera, the time and the rule that fired, so an injury or insurance query is answered quickly.
How it works
Site assessment
We walk the operation with your safety and production people, agree the two or three events that actually cost you, and document the cameras, gates and trackers you already own.
Integration
We connect the cameras, readers, weighbridge and trackers and install the on-site unit. Here it only observes and reports — it may not act — while we check that what it sees matches what your people see.
Rules and guardrails
Zones, PPE standards and escalation paths are set, then tested against real footage and historical shift records, until the alerts supervisors receive are ones they would have wanted.
Go live and optimise
The system takes the workflow and we review weekly at first: which rules fire too often, which cameras need moving. A first system is typically live in about four to six weeks.
Questions buyers ask
Do we have to replace our cameras?
Usually not. If your cameras are IP-based and the recorder gives us a standard video stream, we work with what is there. Some positions may need re-aiming, cleaning or better light; the assessment says which before you spend anything.
Does it work underground?
Partly, and we would rather be straight about that. Vision rules need light and a camera, so underground they apply at lit stations, workshops, tips and portals. Deeper in, presence comes from tags and readers instead.
Will this be used to discipline our people?
That is your procedure, not ours. The system flags an event and keeps the clip; a person decides what it means. Exceptions escalate to a human rather than trigger an automatic consequence.
What happens when the power or network goes down?
Detection continues. The unit runs on your UPS or generator supply and stores events locally, so alerts still reach a phone over the mobile network and records reconcile when the link returns. Camera and link failures are themselves reported, so silence is never mistaken for safety.
Who can see our footage, and where does it live?
In your environment or a tenant dedicated to you, in a location you know and agree to. Access is by role, and retention is written into the agreement rather than left to a default setting.
How do we start without committing the whole mine?
Most sites begin with one area and two or three rules: a plant entrance, a restricted zone and one production count. Once supervisors are acting on those alerts, we extend camera by camera.
